GDC Root Elevators Apexo Standard (E301)
Used as a lever during the extraction of a tooth or retained roots. It is pushed in between the gums and the tooth exterior and used to loosen the tissue surrounding the tooth.
COMPONENTS
The elevator consists of the following components
- Blade
- Shank
- Handle
INDICATIONS FOR USE
- Reflect mucoperiosteal membrane
- Luxate, remove teeth that cannot be engaged by forceps
- Remove carious or fractured roots
- Loosen teeth prior to application of forceps
- Split teeth which have grooves cut into them
- Never use an adjacent tooth as a fulcrum, unless that tooth is to be
extracted itself in the same visit, and the fulcrum should always be
bony one (alveolar bone). - An elevator should always be supported to avoid slippage and
injury to the patient. - Avoid the use of excessive force if the tooth/root resist luxation, by
gentle rotation, then stop, look for the obstruction to elevation, and deal
with it.
