GDC Root tip Pick Heidbrink
The Heidbrink root tip picks are designed for delicate root teasing procedures. They are also available in a "heavy" pattern for more substantial root tip removal procedures. Used to remove root tips or fragments that may break away from the tooth during the extraction procedure and are in difficult-to-reach areas root picks are used to retrieve loose root fragments after extraction.Used as a lever during the extraction of a tooth or retained roots. It is pushed in between the gums and the tooth exterior and used to loosen the tissuesurrounding the tooth.

The small Root Tip Pick Elevators are used to remove small detached roots. the tips are extremely delicate.
When in use the sharp tip is placed into the periodontal ligament space and the root is teased from the socket. 
If the root is loose but will not elevate, a second elevatorcan be placed on the opposite side of the root and lifted from the socket.
